How To Maintain Healthy Eating Over The Holidays

With Christmas crawling closer, it's the most wonderful time of the year to bake and devour delicious treats. From peppermint sugar cookies to peanut brittle, you can't stop craving them! Although it's okay to eat a few here and there, you also want to make sure you're maintaining a healthy array of foods. Here are a few ways you can help yourself stay balanced with nutrition.

  1. Smaller portions at a time are much more effective than piling as much food on as you can to cure your hunger. The more you do this, the more fueled you will be throughout the day rather than eating all at once and hitting a wave of exhaustion and bloating. Your body will thank you for balancing your intake of food.

  2. Making sure that you're eating the healthy foods first can help a lot to fuel the body. If you do this, you won't indulge as much of sugar, salt and fat. Afterwards, enjoy a holiday treat!

  3. It's very important to stay hydrated every day, but drinking too much water isn't always the best because your kidneys may not be able to get rid of the excess water.

  4. It is good to keep in mind of your alcohol consumption. During the holidays, there are many fun and delicious drinks, but they contain quite a bit of sugar and calories. Be mindful of how much you're having.

Keeping these four things in mind can help you maintain healthy eating, and drinking over the holidays!
